I read an article Stolen kids turned into terrifying killers written by Ann O’Neill. This article discusses that children are being forced to join the war. Some children are recruited to join after the child has seen their parents being killed; others are kidnapped from school or their own beds.
In my opinion, the government needs to find a way to catch a lot of children who are sent to war. So many children are going to war, this article estimated that around 250,000 children become soldiers and some are as young as eight years old. Some of them become fighters, sex slaves, spies or even human shields. In my opinion, these children are too young to be sent to war. Children are not aware of what they are doing. Many children are brainwashed by this, and many are given drugs before sent to war.
I wonder how children can become experts at killing people older than them. Honestly, how does this work? It does not make sense at all. Children are also taught to kill people in the same age group. For example, a girl name Angela who was twelve years old was forced to shoot her own friend when she joined the war. Seeing a young girl having to kill her own friend is a very tragedy thing for me to see. She is so young that she does not understand why she has to kill a friend. The commander told her she had to learn to bury her friend and put dirt on top of her. She also had to learn not to cry.
First of all, these children should not be forced to go to war. Second of all, these children should not be taught to kill their own friend. We are supposed to be fighting against our enemies, not our friends. Imagine these children having to use a gun that is taller than some of them.
In my opinion, the government needs to stop this. The government needs to set up cops or specific upper people to watch before the war starts to make sure there are no children there. These people who forced these children to go to war should be put behind the bars. Children do not deserve to go through this with no real childhood. This is a very scary thing and again, children are not aware of what they are doing. They are not told why they have to go to war, no one sits down and explains to them why they are sent to war. They should not be sent to war in the first place. What are your thoughts, feelings, and comments? How can we stop from these children going to war?
